Great basket. Love it.I like using the glass to steam things verses plastics. Works great in the microwave or on the stove.I steam food all the time for my kids, and this makes it so, so much easier. It's so easy to clean (vs stainless steel) and leaves no residue or weird smells. Makes me feel better that it won't rust and that it is completely food safe. I've used it for 3 months now, and no issues. Hope it doesn't chip or break, but seems very sturdyThe Luminarc glass steamer basket is nice quality heavy glass that works beautifully for steaming vegetables over a pot of steaming water. Not cheap, and don't drop this on your toes, cause it's a heavy chunk of glass, but worth it and likely something that will last years if taken care of.Well made, excellent steamer. Will last a lifetime. I’m very happy with my purchase.Great product. I'm using this to replace my old metal steamers which are difficult to clean and easily corrode.I don't like when the metal leaches into the food.I handled the steamer very carefully but the steamer got chipped with small cracks after the third use. Very disappointed.1-Year Update: After a year of near-daily use the glass broke when a small herb bottle accidentally fell on it. I don't fault the steamer basket and did not change the rating. Fortunately there are several near-identical brands available to replace it. Also, I discovered that these 20cm steamer inserts work well with 12.5" commercial coffee filters; makes it much easier to filter batches of cold-brew coffee or herbal tea.Original Review: I purchased a Luminarc pot and steamer tray as part of a transition from steel to glass cookware. The steamer and 2L/3L pots are 20cm diameter; they are too small for a large burner so the water takes a little longer to boil on a small burner. Also, the holes on the steamer are relatively small and the tray doesn't fit especially well on the pot. As a result most of the steam escapes around the sides of the tray despite how it's positioned over the pot. It takes a few minutes longer to steam food with this setup. It eventually gets the job done, though. The glass seems pretty durable, but I make a point to hand dry it after washing to avoid any damage rubbing against other dishes in the sink. Overall, I like the tray and pot, but I wish the Luminarc 24cm steamer tray was available for use with the 2.5L pot on a large burner.
